If you’re planning a cabin vacation in the North Georgia Mountains this summer, tubing can be a great way to beat the heat and soak in the beautiful mountain air in the process. Relaxing in a tub as you float down a North Georgia Mountain river drifting mindlessly for a few hours sounds glorious! The beautiful waters of the Ellijay River run through the mountains in and around the city of Ellijay. These beautiful rivers are nestled deep in the North Georgia Mountains which create the perfect setting for relaxation and fun. Tubing offers something for the entire family; even small children can enjoy floating down the river on the laps of their parents. Before heading out for a fun day of tubing, you may want to remember the following:
1.Remember to pack sunscreen. Even on an overcast day it is important to wear sunscreen to protect from the harmful rays of the sun.
2.Do not stand up on the tube.
3. Wearing river shoes can often help if you plan on getting out of the tube at any point during the trip. There are several places along the river where you and your family can splash along the river banks in the crisp, cool water. Especially if you plan on chasing little ones around, wearing river shoes can come in handy while walking on the river floor.
4. It is important to remember that when going over rocks and small rapids, keep your bottom up inside the tube!
5. If you’re planning to make the tubing trip an afternoon activity, renting a spare tube to carry a small cooler with a delicious lunch or snacks may be the perfect addition to the day.

$10 per person. They will lend you a tube and a life vest, and they offer shuttle service to and from the river. Kayak trips are also available by reservation. Each trip lasts 1.5 hours down the river.
The season opens May 1 and runs through October.

Rolling Thunder River Company
$7 per person for a 1.5 mile float down the Toccoa River. If the river is running unusually fast and deep children may be required to be at least 10 years of age for Toccoa Rriver trips.
Cartecay River Experience
For a more vamped-up experience, you can rent a tube or kayak to take down the flowing waters of the Cartecay. A shuttle bus will take you and your friends down to the drop off of the river where you can soak in the brilliant Georgia Mountain sun and enjoy an exciting trip down the river.
