Holidays in the Mountains

As the trees continue to change hues and shed the last of their fall leaves, we begin to reminisce on the past year and think about all of the wonderful things in our life that we’re thankful for. The beauty of the North Georgia Mountains alone is a constant reminder of all that we must be thankful for, but its the mountain memories that make it really special.

Blue Ridge Grill will be open on Thanksgiving day for anyone interested in eating out on Thanksgiving day. From 11am-4pm, they offer a traditional Thanksgiving buffet with no reservations. There will be a full spread with desserts and kids under age 6 eat free!

After you’ve let yourself digest that big Thanksgiving meal, head to downtown Blue Ridge the Saturday after Thanksgiving for Light Up Blue Ridge. This famous Christmas festival is the perfect kick off to the holiday season. There will be music, caroling, and of course plenty of refreshments and all-day activities. You’ll be mesmerized by the exciting lighting of the Christmas tree and you’ll even get to visit with a familiar, rosy round faced, white bearded jolly old man, you guessted…Santa! He’ll be there to greet you so have in mind what you want for Christmas, we know you’ll be on the nice list this year.

The Friday after thanksgiving is known as "blue" friday and all the merchants from Light Up Blue Ridge will be offering deep discounts on most items. The downtown Blue Ridge area will be filled with live entertainment all day. Friday evening will also be a fun time of caroling which starts ar 6pm.

Festivities begin on Saturday when Santa arrives at 11:15am. The parade will start at 5:30pm and everyone is welcome to join in on the parade! The great tree lighting will be soon afterwards around 7pm.

This year we look forward to hearing 2016 Miss America winner, Betty Cantrell sing "O Holy Night" at the lighting on the Christmas tree.
