For an experience designed specifically around dogs, head to Blue Ridge Adventure Dog at 342 East Main Street. This unique downtown Blue Ridge spot combines an off-leash dog park, dog-friendly bar, indoor-outdoor lounge, and small retail shop. The dog park offers room to run, shaded seating, and doggie pools, while the human side serves beer, wine, and cocktails.
It is one of our favorite suggestions for visitors who want an activity that is just as much fun for their dog as it is for them. One dog owner mentioned, “This was the perfect pit stop for all of us. Our dog, Lucy, has a blast running around and jumping in the pool, while my husband enjoyed a beer, and I had a moment to check out all the great dog merchandise. A win-win-win for dog lovers!”

Hike to the Toccoa River Swinging Bridge
If your dog loves hiking, the Toccoa River Swinging Bridge is a classic North Georgia outing. The 270-foot suspension bridge crosses the beautiful Toccoa River and is accessed from the Benton MacKaye Trail. Leashed dogs are permitted on both the trail and the bridge.
The forest roads leading into this area can occasionally be rough or temporarily closed, so check current access conditions before heading out.

The trail is roughly a 30-minute round trip, although roots, rocks, and an incline make it more challenging than its short distance might suggest. Bring water for both you and your dog, keep pets under control around other hikers, and never allow dogs to climb around waterfalls or slippery rocks.
One of our guests commented, “We took our golden retriever, Cooper, out to Fall Branch Falls, and it was the perfect afternoon trek! Honestly, the trail was an absolute breeze for him, though the steady incline gave us a bit of a workout. We really appreciated the built-in benches along the first half of the path; they made the perfect stops to take a breather and give Cooper a quick water break. The absolute highlight was reaching the base of the waterfall. There is a fantastic, shallow creek area where Cooper could splash around and cool off his paws after the hike up. It’s an incredibly scenic, pet-friendly spot that we’ll definitely be visiting again!”

Dogs are welcome at designated outdoor tables, making it a nice option when you want a more elevated lunch or dinner without leaving your pup behind. The Morning Breeze staff loves the food at this restaurant!
Bob’s Eatery
For something more casual, Bob’s Eatery is an especially fun stop for dog lovers. Located downtown, Bob’s has both a covered front deck and open-air back patio where dogs are welcome. The restaurant specializes in sandwiches, pizzas, and some seriously indulgent specialty milkshakes. They even offer pup cups upon request.
Fightingtown Tavern
If burgers, wings, and cold drinks sound good after a day of exploring, Fightingtown Tavern offers dog-friendly outdoor seating in the heart of downtown Blue Ridge. Its energetic rock-and-roll atmosphere and casual menu make it an easy choice when you’re looking for an unfussy meal with your dog along for the evening.
Rum Cake Lady Cuban Cafe
Another excellent casual option is Rum Cake Lady Cuban Cafe in Blue Ridge. Grab a Cuban sandwich, empanadas, coffee, or one of their famous rum cakes and enjoy the pet-friendly outdoor dining area near downtown.

Located just 15 minutes north of Blue Ridge, it is one of our newer dog-friendly wineries. Along with delicious wine and beautiful scenery, there is a large outdoor area for leashed dogs. Downtown Blue Ridge is fun to explore on foot, and several local businesses make shopping with your dog easy.
Love Dogs and Cats Too at 757 East Main Street should be at the top of the list. This pet boutique carries treats, toys, beds, collars, leashes and other supplies, and leashed dogs are welcome to browse with their owners.
Another great stop is Blue Ridge Cotton Company, a dog-friendly downtown shop offering clothing, gifts and an extensive pet section with treats, leashes, books and other finds.
Local tip: Plenty of other downtown Blue Ridge shops welcome dogs as well. Look for signs at the entrance or ask before bringing your dog inside. You will also find that many establishments leave a water bowl outside their door for those furry family members tagging along on a shopping spree.

Hike Bear Creek Trail
Bear Creek Trail is one of our favorite hikes near Ellijay and is a particularly good choice for visitors with active dogs. The trail winds through a beautiful creek valley to the Gennett Poplar, the second-largest living tree in Georgia. Leashed dogs are allowed. Depending on the route you choose, the hike can range from roughly 2 miles to more than 5 miles round trip.
Walk Tumbling Waters Trail
For a shorter outing, try Tumbling Waters Trail near Ellijay. This roughly one-mile out-and-back trail offers river and waterfall scenery without requiring an all-day hike. Dogs are welcome but should remain on a leash.
Visit Reece’s Cider Company
Reece’s Cider Company is one of Ellijay’s standout stops for travelers with dogs. Dogs are welcome throughout the property as long as they remain leashed, and water bowls are available. During apple season in September and October, dogs can even accompany their owners, as they go apple picking at neighboring B.J. Reece Orchards before relaxing back at the cidery.
Spend an Afternoon at Roo Mountain Vineyards
For an adults-only excursion, Roo Mountain Vineyards welcomes friendly, leashed dogs on its outdoor patios. This is a staff favorite! The views are incredible, as is the wine and food. The vineyard offers sweeping mountain views along with wine, cider, and dining. One important distinction: Roo Mountain is 21 and older, so while the dog can come along, children and infants cannot.
